Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners must complete at least 20 hours of CPD each registration year, including interactive CPD, and keep a portfolio that supports audit evidence.
Registration year: 1 December to 30 November; AHPRA registration renewal is 30 November.
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners complete at least 20 hours of CPD each registration year, including at least five hours in an interactive setting with other practitioners, and maintain a CPD portfolio.
Category and topic requirements
- Interactive CPD (minimum 5 hours): At least five hours must be CPD in an interactive setting with other practitioners.
- Scope-relevant CPD: The remaining CPD should improve patient outcomes and experiences, draw on the best available evidence, and be relevant to the practitioner's chosen scope and setting of practice.
Standalone requirements
- CPD portfolio: Maintain a portfolio documenting learning goals, planned CPD activities, and reflection on how CPD activities are expected to improve or have improved practice.
Caveats
- If registered part-way through a registration period, the standard sets a pro-rata requirement of five hours for every three months of registration remaining in the period.
- Education, training, mentoring, or supervision required by the Board or a tribunal should not be counted as CPD for this standard.
- CPD records must be maintained for five years.
- The Board's page noted CPD and recency standards were under public consultation until 17 July 2026; this record reflects the current effective standard at the 7 July 2026 review date.
